Biography

Witolf Werner was born in 1978 and took up lectures in Piano, Violoncello and canto. Beginning in 1999 he started lectures at conducting among others in the class of Prof. Michael Luig in Cologne, attended Master Courses in Trier and Budapest and was assistant to Michael Gielen at the South West Radio Symphony Orchestra. After first engagements in Osnabrück and Dortmund he became repetiteur and assistant of Musical Director Peter Kuhn at the Bielefeld Theater during the years 2005 and 2006. From 2008 through 2013 he acted there as Assistant, director of studies and band master. He was admitted to the „Richard Wagner Foundation“ and received a scholarship of the „Deutsche Bank Foundation“ (today: Academic Music Theater). As conductor of operas he directed the opera „The clever little Fox“ and the world premiere of „Jo-Ion“ as well as „Alice in Wonderland“ and „Rosenkavalier“. In 2011 he was chosen „Conductor of the Year“ in an opinion poll among music critics in the „Sunday World“ newspaper. So far he has worked with the Vienna Symphonic Oechestra, the Bergen Symphony Orchestra and the South-Westfalia Symphony and gave guest performances at the Solingen/Remscheid Theater, the State Theater Darmstadt and in Basel, Switzerland.
Numerous Concerts at home and across Europe show that he is welcome as pianist and accompanyist of singer. Since 2014/2015 Witolf Werner is director of the Stage Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and conducts a number of operas for children.

Witolf Werner sees the conductors of the world every evening – but he is the only one to give a performance almost every evening. Therefore he knows the entire current repertoire and will accompany the willing listener onto a great journey through Classical Music. Besides his charming presentation combined with many examples of every type of music he calls a great sense of humour his own. All his performances are not just classical concerts but interactive events where joy in music plays an important role – besides learning interesting facts about the entire genre.
